When a girl mysteriously falls from the third floor balcony of the most venerable hotel in northern Michigan, the entire town of Paradise Bay changes.  In the spirit of Like Water for Chocolate and The Alchemist, Paradise Cafe follows the story of two sisters, Ilene and Gloria, and how each of them meets the greatest challenge in the world, that of becoming a northern woman.  

Full of food, sex, and religion – all things that make us crazy – the sisters fight to fulfill their dreams, in particular Ilene’s to start a café and feed others, under the shadow of the girl who took flight.
