As an activist and content creator, Cati Weinek has produced several documentaries that have gained international acclaim, her most recent focusing on the life story of human rights icon, George Bizos, the long-standing lawyer and close friend to Nelson Mandela. She created the ground-breaking Sediba script development program of the South African National Film and Video Foundation to encourage and groom new voices in the new South Africa.
From 2007-2009, as head writer and show runner, she created and oversaw 450 episodes of one of South African Broadcaster’s top soaps, Muvhango, which delivered the biggest audience in the show’s history. She served as head writer on the long running series, Zone 14, which still is the second highest-rated programme on the SABC (South African Broadcast Corporation), reaching an audience of over six million people.
Cati is deeply committed to creating relevant and entertaining content for Africa and its global village.
Cinechicks recruited Cati to be our tangible moral compass. As a company we are deeply committed to “giving back,” in all forms whether through financial contributions, support of non-profits and NGOs, or community work. With every Cinechicks’ project, we ask – what else can we do? These ideas and projects land on Cati’s desk. She makes us a better company and she makes us better human beings.
